History & Art at Kierland
We celebrate the region's rich legacy at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. Our hallways and our grounds pay tribute to the people and the landscape that shaped Arizona's cultural heritage. Our rich tapestry of resort amenities-from the ancient healing of the Agave plant nectar to modern delights like our signature dining and championship golf - will awaken your spirit and soothe your soul. Experience it in the descriptive plaques that share nuggets of Arizona history, each written by state historian Marshall Trimble, our own homespun Will Rogers. A self-guided walking tour helps you discover it all.
The artistry perfectly showcases the creative touches and cultural influences you'll find throughout The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. You can feel it in the grand front entrance that mirrors desert and mountain... You can see it in the original paintings and sculptures by Arizona artists scattered throughout the resort...
You'll learn plenty, too, with a stroll through our meeting and function area. Our Discovery, Expedition and Visionaries Halls give due to those who created the Essence of Arizona, from river explorers like John Wesley Powell to Indian chiefs and heads of state. After all, we want to carry on the spirit of all those people who came here before us-the hardworking folks and visionaries who made Arizona what it is today. You'll see it in our staff, and in programs like Arizona Culturekeepers. It's a new Westin Kierland tradition we've started, a way to celebrate Arizonans-unsung heroes all-who carry on the traditions, rituals and cultures of our state.
