THE WESTIN KIERLAND RESORT & SPA TO PARTICIPATE IN THIRD ANNUAL “PHOENIX COOKS!” CULINARY EVENT
Resort’s top chefs to host class and participate in “Two Chefs in the Kitchen” cook-off challenge
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (August 24, 2007) – The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa will be participating in the third annual “Phoenix Cooks!” culinary event to take place September 1.
“Phoenix Cooks!” Arizona’s premier culinary event brings local chefs together in a charity event benefiting the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Top Valley Chefs share their expertise and demonstrate their culinary skills live on stage and during “Food Forum” classes as well as “Two Chefs in the Kitchen.”
Executive Chef Todd Berry and Chef Roberto Madrid will be participating in the Acqua Panna “Food Forum” entitled “Seafood Made Easy” which shows participants how easy it is to create seafood dishes that are both beautiful and delicious! "Food Forums" are designed to offer a more personal learning environment for enthusiasts.
Chef Berry will also be competing with Chef Donald Lemperle from Asia de Cuba in the “Two Chefs in the Kitchen” cook-off. Chef will be provided with a "mystery" basket of ingredients and 30 minutes to prepare their dishes. The showcase displays the different talents and dishes two chefs would make from the same ingredients.
Berry joined the Westin Kierland team in April of 2006 as head of the resort’s banquet department. He was quickly noticed for his ability to keep cool under pressure and for possessing a natural talent and pure passion for cooking. He also gained a reputation for having a genuine interest in the happiness and success of all his team members.
Prior to joining The Westin Kierland Resort, Berry served as Executive Chef at both the Sheraton Grand Sacramento and Hidden Meadow Ranch in Greer, Ariz. Other previous experience includes the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale at Gainey Ranch, where he worked for 11 years, the Hotel Westcourt in Scottsdale and the French Corner, also in Scottsdale.
